2017 Scholarship Tournament Results

The First Coast USBC held its Annual Scholarship Tournament on Sunday, February 19th at Nassau Bowling Center.  This tournament, also called the Debbi Parsons Memorial in honor of a past coach/volunteer, gave out $2500 in SMART scholarship funds and two Junior Gold entries.  41 youth bowlers competed in this handicap bowling competition, ranging in age from 5 to 20 and averages from 69 to 207.

During the initial qualifying round of 5 games, John Nunn of Nassau Bowling Center earned the High Game award for the Scratch division (268), while Nicklaus Ebey of Bowl America Orange Park earned that award for the Handicap division (291).  The qualifying round also determined who won the Junior Gold entries… Kyle Nelson earned the U15 entry and Harley Romedy won the U20 entry (both are from Bowl America Orange Park).

The top 10 bowlers in each division advanced to the 2-game Roll-Off round.  High Game awards went to Ryan Franz (244 Scratch, Jax Lanes Grove Park) and Nicklaus Ebey (263 with handicap, BAOP).  The top 5 in each division advanced to the step-ladder finals.

FINAL RESULTS – SCRATCH DIVISION:

1st place: Isiah Bautista (Jax Lanes Grove Park)

2nd place: Thomas McLaughlin Jr. (Batt Family Fun Center)

3rd place: Matthew Jordan (Nassau Bowling Center)

4th place: Harley Romedy (Bowl America Orange Park)

5th place: John Nunn (Nassau Bowling Center)

FINAL RESULTS – HANDICAP DIVISION:

1st place: Nicklaus Ebey (Bowl America Orange Park)

2nd place: Evan Johns (Jax Lanes Grove Park)

3rd place: Simon Harvey (Nassau Bowling Center)

4th place: Kyle Nelson (Bowl America Orange Park)

5th place: Shelbie Wagner (Lake City Bowling Center)

OVERALL CHAMPION: Nicklaus Ebey (Bowl America Orange Park), who earned a total of $525 in SMART scholarship funds for the day!
