About the JJBT:
The Jacksonville Jr. Bowling Tour (JJBT) is a monthly scholarship tournament for youth bowlers that have a league average of 120 or greater. The cost to enter each monthly tournament is $40, with registration taking place the day of the event at Noon (bowling begins at 1pm). Participants compete in one of three divisions based on their average — “Major” (120-159 average, handicap format), “Classic” (160-184 average, scratch format) and “Masters” (185+ average, scratch format). Once a participant moves up in divisions during the season they cannot go back down, even if their average drops.
During the qualifying round, each participant bowls five games across five pairs of lanes. High Game and 1st place awards are given out for performance in the Qualifying round. Based on the number of entrants, 50% or more of the entrants in each division will advance to the Brackets round. The Brackets round consists of up to 3 single elimination, head-to-head match-ups. Scholarships are awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each division, along with high game awards. All participants earn tournament points based on their performance each month, which determines their eligibility to the season-ending Tournament of Champions event (where additional scholarships are awarded out).
The 2016-2017 season concluded 5/6/17 with our Tournament of Champions event, where $3,000 in SMART scholarships were awarded along with 3 Junior Gold entries. Also, we awarded the first-ever JJBT Player of the Year & JJBT Rookie of the Year awards! Check out the JJBT Facebook Page for details on the champions.
The 2015-2016 JJBT season concluded on May 7th with the Tournament of Champions. 46 Bowlers competed for $2,700 in scholarships, plus 3 Junior Gold entries were awarded at this event. A total of $6,667 in scholarships was awarded this past year!
